About Us

Voice of Irish Concern for the Environment (VOICE) is an environmental charity dedicated to reducing waste creation and conserving natural resources.  While we do this through high-level government engagement, we try to work largely on a local level to create behavioural change. To address the huge problem of food waste, we initiated Food Rescue and organised Feeding the 5,000 in Dublin. We also developed Creative Consumption Cashel to organise waste reduction events during Ireland’s first National Reuse Month.

How will Cashel start its Towards Zero-Waste journey?

  • Set a goal of waste reduction of 25% within one year,
  • Engage and work together with local groups/businesses/schools/households,
  • Organise Town meetings/school assemblies to instil the importance of zero waste initiatives,
  • Establish sharing and reuse enterprises,
  • Plan repair and upcycling workshops, and
  • Educate on effective recycling and composting.

Join us in making Ireland’s first Towards Zero Waste Community a great success as we showcase Cashel’s actions over the next few years.

VOICE developed and proposed the Towards Zero Waste Cashel pilot initiative and will be managing this project.

Southern Region Waste Management Office (SRWMO) is the regional waste office which promotes waste prevention initiatives within the southern region. SRWMO is a lead sponsor of this initiative.

Environmental Protection Agency Green Enterprise Office has generously provided funding for this pilot initiative.

The Department of Communications, Climate Action and the Environment has also provided seed funding for Towards Zero Waste Cashel.
